Howard Lederer
Howard lederer is a professional poker player born in Concord, New Hampshire, in 1964. Lederer was a talented high school chess player who moved to New York to attend Columbia University, which is were he discovered poker at one of the many New York Chess clubs and before long he was playing for the Mayfair Club along side other famous poker players such as Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel.
Lederer moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1994 to try out higher stakes poker games. Lederer soon became popular and gained himself the nickname “the professor” because of his style of play which is both analytic and demeanor. Lederer has a long history of wins and he now runs the Howard lederer Poker Fantasy Camp and he has an instructional poker video called the Secrets of No Limit Hold `em, lederer is also a host on the Fox show Learn from the pros and he is a co-host on Poker Superstars, he is also a founder alongside Ray Bitar and co-owner of Tiltware Inc which is the company behind Full Tilt Poker, the company relocated to Ireland and changed its name to Pocket Kings after the government pass the UNIGEA act, the company has a average of more than 10 000 player per hour and is estimated to be worth more than $5 billion USD.
Lederer is a world famous poker player known for his calmness and focus on the poker table, lederer says that he makes use of Zen wisdom when playing poker and developed a four stage evolutionary chart of the course a poker player has to take to become a master which he derived from the four stages of enlightenment in Zen Buddhism. Lederer is one of the smartest players in the poker world and his style of play has one him multiple World Series of Poker bracelets having won two WSOP bracelets making one of only four other player to have done this, he is also a multiple World Poker Tour winner having won it twice.
Lederer has up to date won a total of $4 800 000 in live tournament winnings. Lederer is a strict vegetarian and has been obese for most of his life, that he under went gastric bypass surgery to help him lose weight. Now he has lost weight an achievement he attributes to his vegan diet and to his basketball and running activities. Today lederer is based in Las Vegas with his family.
